Little Mount Baptist Church News
LMBC Christmas Dinner
The Little Mount Baptist Church had their annual Christmas Dinner at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville, on Sunday night, December 16th. Almost 100 people attended and a good time was had by all. There was a buffet style dinner with barbequed pork, fried and baked chicken, roast beef and pork loin along with a large variety of vegetables and desserts. The attendees also played games and a large number of prizes were awarded during the dinner. There was also music provided by the preacher's granddaughter Allison and by Billy Curtsinger. A BIG Thank You goes out to all those on the recreation committee and others that made this year's dinner such a success! To see more photographs from the Christmas Dinner, just click on the photograph at the left side of your screen.
The Little Mount Baptist Church Choir performed their Christmas Cantata on Sunday, December 16th for a large crowd who attended the morning worship service. The choir performed "Worthy of Worship, A Celebration for Christmas." Debbie Tankersley directed the choir, Bill Whitt served as the narrator and Valerie Armstrong ran the sound system. Stacey Heib and Greg Bell performed a solo/duet during the cantata. Everyone who attended experienced some uplifting Christmas music. The cantata lasted roughly thirty minutes and took the place of normal services. The choir is now planning on conducting an Easter cantata. We would love to have you be a part of it. To see more of the cantata, click on the photograph at left.
Choir Christmas Dinner
On Saturday, December 15th, Fred and Debbie Tankersley hosted a Christmas party for the Little Mount Baptist Church Choir at their home. Attendees were treated to pizza, soft drinks and a variety of delicious desserts. The choir also watched a tape of one of their practice performances of the cantata. They also sang the entire cantata in the Tankersley's living room. Afterwards, games were played by some while others chose to sit and converse. Overall, it was a great time of Christian fellowship for those members of the choir and their families that attended. To see more of what went on, click on the photo at left.
Lottie Moon Offering
The Christmas season always reminds us of our commitment to international mission work. Don't forget to pick up an envelope and donate to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our church's goal for this year is $3000. The wreath under the baptistery will serve as our guide as to how well we are doing towards reaching our goal. One light will be lit for each $120 given towards our goal. Be sure to pray about what you can do to help in this important mission. For more information on what Lottie Moon is all about, click on the following link.
The Christmas Decorations are Up!
The Christmas decorations are complete and do they look good! Most of the decorations were put up during the Hanging the Greens Service but now we have all the beautiful Poinsettias decorating the sanctuary. They really add some color! God's house is now decorated for Jesus' birthday! To see more photos of the decorations, click on the picture at left.
The Church Helps a Member in Need
On Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 several men from the Little Mount Baptist Church got together to build a wheelchair ramp for Deanna Shepherd. Money was collected from several Sunday School classes the Sunday before and the men got to work! Materials were purchased, a plan drawn up and then the volunteers showed up at 8:00 A.M. to get started. The participants chose to remain anonymous ,however, you can probably recognize some of the men involved in the photographs. The work was completed by 2:30 P.M. and that even included a break for lunch at the church where sandwiches, chips, soft drinks and desserts were served. Everyone got along wonderfully and each person was able to use their God given talents to help another Christian in need.
New Church Committees Announced
The new committees have been posted to LMBC's web page. To see who is on what committee along with a new list of deacons, click on the link that follows. Then click on either the Deacons button or the Officers button.

Hopefully, we will see you there this coming Sunday so you can view the decorations for yourself.

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Three New Deacons Installed
On Sunday, November 11th, 2012, Little Mount Baptist Church installed three new deacons, one of which was ordained. Alan Hahn and Fred Tankersley had already been ordained and will now begin their service to Little Mount Baptist Church. Greg Bell was also elected deacon and the church conducted an ordination ceremony for him during the morning worship service. All present and prior deacons were in attendance. These three deacons were overwhelmingly selected by members of the church according to Brother Clay. We wish them the best in their service to The Lord and the church. A nice buffet style meal was served after the Sunday service for any who chose to attend. Lots of good food and fellowship were had by all.
Brother Mike Brennan (Pine Ridge Indian Reservation)
On Sunday night, November 11th, 2012, Brother Mike Brennan spoke about the spiritual and physical needs of the Indians at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Porcupine, South Dakota last night. If you missed him, you missed not only a great service but some truly inspirational stories and flute playing. He discussed how his church had lost funding from the North American Mission Board and how he was having to raise funds to keep things going. To find out more about the Lakota Indians and Brother Mike's mission to bring them to Christ, you can go to their Facebook page Chanku Waste Ranch or visit their website at www.youthevangelismstrategies.org.

We hope to see/hear you there.
The Passing of Rev. Dr. M. R. Cherry
We received this letter awhile ago. Sorry for the delay in posting. Per church historian, Berttye Brown, "He was a beloved pastor who lived in the community while getting his doctorate. In fact, he lived upstairs in my grandmother's house next door. My husband and I went to see him in Nova Scotia on our honeymoon. Many of the older folks will remember him. I don't do Facebook, but we could do it that way. Let me know. Thank you, Berttye."
Dear Little Mount Church,
I believe my dear friend, the Rev. Dr. M. R. Cherry, was your pastor at one time. His service to the Lord here is completed. Thought the congregation would like to know this. Here is the website of the funeral home that handled his burial. http://www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com/obituaries/73829

Please pray about this and if you can, please help with a donation to this very worthy cause.
On Wednesday, November 14th at 6:30 PM, there will be a Thanksgiving Meal sponsored by the WMU. There will be a sign up sheet in the church foyer. For details, see Betty Armstrong. If you have not attended a Little Mount Baptist Church Thanksgiving Meal, then you need to mark your calendar and make sure you do not miss it! It is one of the best meals you will eat all year long!

Prior to the hayride, the Fall Festival Committee also sponsored a nice meal which even more people attended. In the photo at left, Brother Clay is talking with some of our church youth in preparation for the meal and hayride. The picnic allowed class members to meet and get know each other better outside the class environment. Many new friendships were made and some good Christian fellowship was had by all. To see more of what went on, click on the picture at left.
